The igniting source for gas device includes electric spark igniting (piezoelectric ceramic igniting and high-frequency electric spark igniting), high temperature surface igniting (metal heating coil, high temperature heating ceramic), small blaze and hot solid particle igniting. The former three igniting is abroad used in engineering.

Forced igniting requires that the blaze at the fire source shall cover the whole volume so that the igniting condition is not only related to the feature of the fire source but also related to the fire transmission

Electric spark igniting is to put two electrodes into the flammable mixture and electrify the electrode to ignite the mixture. This kind of igniting, however, has the energy as small as 1milli-Joule, so it is suitable to be applied to the gas which has narrow igniting scope and high requirement for the igniting energy. Moreover, the electric spark igniting is not suitable to be applied to the wet environment and the environment sensitive to the electromagnet.

The high-frequency universally used in China has been gradually replaced by hot-surface igniting abroad. The hot-surface igniting has no noise pollution, unsafe deflagration nor electromagnetic interference to the auto control devices but reliable igniting.

Because the hot-surface igniting is reliable, the Invensys Company and Honeywell Company, which are the largest company for manufacturing gas conditioner in the world, has already apply the SiC all-ceramic or ceramic-covered igniter. However, these kinds of ceramic igniter have low mechanical strength and dispersive heat zone.
